lyrics

She bundled up her dress, calling to us children.
"Here is a tale," she stressed, "true as the sun is splendid:
There dwelt a dying crone, old and alone she lingered,
Frailty in every bone, magic in every finger
Atop the glacier there, wall of enchanted glory
Then in her final year..." so rambled on the story

How, with her last breath,
She gave the wall its power:
All which is scrawled upon it
True at the melting hour.

I wandered home that night, shocked at the implications:
Carve in the witch's ice, wait for the realization?
In doubt and fear despite hoping it were so simple,
Up to the ice I climbed, pondering my miracle.
"Give me my brother back," echoed my angry letters.
"Can you deliver that?" echoed across the glacier.

How like a broken promise,
Far out of recollection,
When the splendid sun brought
Rain but no resurrection.
