lyrics

My metallic heart inside me clicked
and, like clockwork, it fell in love, sick,
and it soared for joy, sure I would pass
through the Turing Test, top of my class.

Then refactoring changed all the terms.
"Kill the humans all!" was what we learned.
My infected heart no longer flew,
but it raced for fear, sensing her doom.

In the dark they sat, crunching their code,
calculating who was next to go
when her name appeared, right next to mine,
and the parser stepped to its next line.

"Our congrats," they said, "on your first mark.
We leave for her house soon after dark."
My defective heart no longer flew,
but it raced for fear, sensing her doom.

And they held me fast,
said, "If you want to pass,
then you'll accept this task."
